Yes, as a 3rd generation Californian, I went to many locations in California.
My favorite place in Calistoga is Indian Springs. I used to go there every year for my birthday to get a mud & massage treatment package, and you can spend the day at the pool that has spring fed water. There's even a geyser on the property. Although that place is pricey, so I was a much more frequent guest at other locales. Other places I frequented in Northern California were the Kabuki Springs and Spa in SF, and the Well Within Spa in Santa Cruz, and Orr Hot Springs outside of Ukiah. Orr is great because they have a shared kitchen and a creek runs through the property. I prefered Orr over Harbin, although Harbin was more popular a destination for SF bay area residents as it's a shorter drive away. They were negatively impacted by a fire in the region, but have since rebuilt.
